BO Explorer 4.0 Installation error

Hello

 

I am installing a Business Objects server for my client but Explorer 4.0 installation fails

 

System is: Windows Server 2008 R2 - 16x vCPU - 52 GB RAM - 300 GB Disk

 

Installed software:

SAP Business Objects Server 4.0 SP9

SAP Business Objects Client 4.0 SP9

SAP Crystal Reports Enterprise 4.0 SP9

SAP Dashboards 4.0 SP9

SAP LiveOffice 4.0 SP9

 

 

I tried installing Explorer 4.0 SP6 and SP7 but all failed at the same step. I cannot pass enter credentials phase. I checked my password and it is working without any problems when I enter CMS and BI screens. I also confirmed with IT team that there are no firewall restrictions.

 

What I did so far

 

Uninstalled antivirus software

Disabled Windows Firewall service

Entered server IP and server FQDN into hosts file

Restarted server

Tried SP6 and SP7 installation packages

Inconsistent in Decimals format for a Measure in SAP BO Explorer 4.1 SP2?

Hi,

 

I have created a Universe on top SAP BEx Query using Universe Designer Tool and to convert the values into Millions so i have divided each measure with 1000000. On top of this Universe, i have created Information Space and Indexed it and created an Exploration View Set.

 

Now i'm viewing my Exploration Views, I found an inconsistency with Decimal Format for a measure value like below.

I'm using SAP BO Explorer 4.1 SP2 version.

 

Can anyone please suggest me what could be the issue and how to solve this.

Missing objects to be promoted

Hi All,

We have encountered an issue with promotion of BO Explorer Information Spaces. We add Information Space to Promotion Job:

Then we click Promote:

And Promotion Manager displays: Objects to be promoted (0). So we can't promote our Information Spaces. Other object types can be promoted successfully. We use BO 4.0 SP11. Any ideas?

somteimes Promotion Manager raises exception:


Sorry, Promotion management application is unable to process your request.
The error from the server is: Failed to get dependencies of the job.(PRS 00048)com.businessobjects.framework.dependency.dm.exception.DMException$ExceptionWrapper: A com.businessobjects.sdk.plugin.desktop.infospace.spi.driver.InfoSpaceMigrationException occurred; original exception message getDependees()...


And this problem occurs only for .unx based Information Spaces.

SAP BO Explorer 4.1 - Cluster Questions

Dear all,

 

In our environment we have a BO Cluster which runs on two dedicated servers (Windows 2012 R2, 64G RAM) with the following components:

 

  • SAP BO BI 4.1 SP06 FP02
  • SAP BO Explorer 4.1 SP06 FP02
  • Tomcat 7

 

I would like to ask the following regarding Explorer:

 

1.) Should we still disable IPv6 on both servers as per SAP Note '2078091 - Explorer Master Server stops unexpectedly'? The Note was last updated in 28.05.2015.

 

2.) Should we move the Explorer Index Files Directory (%DefaultDataDir%/Polestar/index) from each node to the common storage alike Filestore for SAP BO BI 4.1? Is there any recommended practice about the index file directory when we have a clustered environment?

BO Explorer reports promotion procedure

Hi,

 

We are on 4.0 SP2 P12.

 

we have created Bo explorer reports in dev. now we want to move them to QA.

 

Please let me know how to move them

 

we are creating an lcmbiar file (BO explorer report) and promote into QA system, but where to mention or how to make sure that report is pointing correct QA information space is an QA system .

 

I am talking about something like OLAP connection for BICS based webi reports...

Issue with the BusinessObjects Explorer 4.0

Hi,

 

I get the following error when I try to connect to SAP Business Objects Explorer:

 

Failed to Log on

Request timed out

 

I am using SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 3.

 

Its a production server and needs to be fixed ASAP.

 

Any help will be appreciated.

Explorer in PROD refuses to Index - works in DEV

Hi everyone.  This is stumping me and could use your thoughts on the matter.

 

We're using a BEX query in PROD to feed a unv to run a Bus Explorer. 

 

After promotion it generates the error below.  I attempted to save and export to PROD with same results.

 

The DEV and PROD universes are both using the BEX query from PROD so no connection changes is needed.

 

So the BEX is common, the Connection is common.  Restarted the Explorer services as well.

 

Any thoughts on the matter that I'm missing?

 

Prompt response is very helpful as you can imagine being a production issue.

Hi Team,

 

Currently we use SAP Solution Manager to monitor their SAP system landscape and now require the BI (Business Intelligence) systems configuring in Solution Manager.

 

Currently WE provide Manual daily checks of the BI landscape; the Solution Manager Technical Monitoring will be configured to mirror these checks as closely as possible.

 

I am able to find the document for Tomcat configuration to SLD, BO registration to SLD. Manage system configuration.

 

Could you please help me to provide step by step document for BO system technical Monitoring setup so that I can achieve the requirement. Thank you so much.

Pass parameters to exploration view set

I have a request to pass a parameters from dashboard to exploration view set.

Currently, I understand you cannot pass parameters to exploration view set.

 

Any help of workaround or any SDK avaialble to pass parameters to Exploration View Set.

SAP BO Explorer strange date display

Hallo Experts,

 

I am seeing strange behaviour in BO explorer. We have created BO Explorer views based on SAP BW Cubes and DSOs.

 

Recently our BO upgraded to 4.1 from 4.0.

 

 

Behaviour:

 

In SAP BW InfoCube the date is (for example): 15.02.2014

In SAP BO IDT the displayed value is: 15.02.2014

 

but in SAP BO Explorer we are seeing 14.02.2014 (one day early).

 

 

It is not specific to any one Explorer view but for all based on SAP BW infoproviders.

 

 

 

Can you please suggest me any ideas/Solutions?

Wrong Sort Order for Results - Text Search

Text search on BO Explorer Information space gives wrong sort order. Tried sorting "left/right column Ascending /Descending" but results are not sorted.

Delete Events older than value from 5 to 180 days will lead to performance issue

User wants to Audting data period from 5 to 180 days : In CMC > Auditing > Delete Events older than --> 5 to 180 days ,

 

But the problem is it will consume more resources .

 

So from where we can find the memory parameters related to Auditing data period and how to analyse it .

 

Please reply ! its urgent ...

Login Error in BI launch Pad as user, BOBJ 4.0

Hi Expert,

I am not able login as user in Business object launch pad in order to check the folder assignment to user, error as follow upon login,

"Account Information Not Recognized: Enterprise authentication could not log you on. Please make sure your logon information is correct. (FWB 00008)"

Imported the Role from BI to business object environment after assigned to test user and performed the folder assignment to group in CMC, i am using BI logon Authentication for BI test user.

Note: As a Admin i am only able to logon with the Authentication as Enterprise, not as SAP not sure if that has any thing do for the error.

 

I am new to Business object 4.0 security, your help to resolve the issue will be greatly appreciated.

CMS Could not connect

Dear Experts,

 

We are facing an issus while connecting to SAP BODS.

 

Below is the error which I am getting while connecting.

 

"could not connect CMS 'OCCWEB03'. Specify the correct host and port  and check for network issues. (FWM 20030)"

 

Can anyone help me to diagnose the issue as it was working fine from last 2-3 days but from today its stopped working.

 

We have BI Platform 4.1 SP2 & BusinessObject Explorer 4.1 SP2 installed on the server whereas SAP Data Services version is 4.2 SP1.

is there is any issue with version ??

 

Please help us in getting this issue resolved.

Remove commas in number format

I created a information space with a YearMonth Object and a Msr object.

When I open the information space the YearMonth Object has a comma.

I formatted the YearMonth as Numeric in the IDT tool and still see a comma when I open the information space.

 

I appreciate if any one can reply with a solution  how to remove comma when viewing the information space.

Is it true that explorer is phasing out?

Hello,

 

I came across this blog post dated 2014, saying that Explorer is going to phase out and replaced by SAP Lumira.

Can you confirm if it is true?

 

If yes, can you link me a post from SAP regarding this matter.

 

I am currently using Version 14.1.4 Build 1327. Can you confirm me that I am using the latest version?

 

To be honest, I find it very buggy use. I have some issues to retrieve data from SAP Hana and Information Design Tools. Even after indexing several times, not all data are retrieved.

Explorer use a measure by date range

Im trying to do a date range using a measure to calcute the amount. is that possible?
In this case i try to plus all the Sales amount from 2008/10 to the 2006/12.

On the information design tool the measure is creat like that and its working because it is a static date
