Row Level Security: BOBJ Explorer
Hi Experts,
We are using BOBJ sp06. We have applied row level security on WEBI Reports succesfully. Now when I try to run Explorer based on same IDT. The security profiles are not working. We have 4 levels in the organaisation structure(Region mngr, country mngr, vice president, president) viewing the same report and data gets filtered out accordingly. Can anyone help me implementing the same scenario in Explorer, wherein data should get filtered out with the user who logs in using @variable('BOUSER') function.

BO Explorer Session Timeout
Hi Experts
We have been running BOBJ 4.0 SP3 for the past 6 months, and I keep having issues regarding Session timeout on the Explorer view.
We are using MS AD SSO.
If our users remember to "sign out" when closing the Explorer browser their session will be removed, but if they just close the window the session keeps hanging. This means the session is not released and our concurrent session count will "Fill up" and no one can sign in,.
second problem.
If a user opens a explorer view and then leaves his or her desk for hours, they will keep the session open, is there a way to create a popup, much like the one in the CMC telling them that will be signed off in 5 mins ?
I have been searching and found several papers on the subject, but nothing seems to work.
Hope someone in here have a solution for my problem?

Is it true that explorer is phasing out?

I am currently using Version 14.1.4 Build 1327. Can you confirm me that I am using the latest version?
To be honest, I find it very buggy use. I have some issues to retrieve data from SAP Hana and Information Design Tools. Even after indexing several times, not all data are retrieved.

SP 6 was released, but where is the support to .UNV ? :(
I just install de SP06 but i don't see .UNV option on creating the Infospace 
... Anyone know if will be available only in 4.1?

Explorer based on excel
I want to build explorer based on excel sheet,,I want this sheet to be refresh-able from SAP ,,so I built the excel on crystal using live office and scheduled the crystal,,but the excel doesn't refresh...Is there a way to make it refresh??????

"BW BEx -> IDT -> BO" or "BW export to HANA view -> IDT -> BO"
Hello Gurus,
The customer I work for is planning on moving to a BW on HANA environment. One of the questions that came up was around usability of BO in the post-hana world. Unfortunately I could not get hold of any customer experience to get to a logical conclusion.
Option 1 ) We continue to use the standard approach. Consume data from BW BEx queries via BICS connection into Business OBjects
Option 2 ) The second option comes with the feature that BW on HANA provider. You could export an Infoprovider into a view inside HANA(it has a setting to be enable during activation). This would mean we the same data could be consumed from a column-view via a normal RDBMS connection.
In terms of better performance and a stable architectural approach, what could be a better suggestion and why ...

Delete Events older than value from 5 to 180 days will lead to performance issue
User wants to Audting data period from 5 to 180 days : In CMC > Auditing > Delete Events older than --> 5 to 180 days ,
But the problem is it will consume more resources .
So from where we can find the memory parameters related to Auditing data period and how to analyse it .

We have a scenario with BO BI 4.0 FP 3 (BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.0 FP3) with BO Explorer 4.0 FP3. MS win 2008 R2, MS SQL Server
2008. We would like to be able to view the Webi reports published in the CMS server via mobile platforms. In doing this, we have two
servers BOBI and TWAS (Tomcat WebApp Server).
The TWAS is in a DMZ (accessible via internet) and BOBI is in the intranet firewall. I have also installed the explorer on TWAS (web tier) to
be able to view reports from SAP BusinessObjects Explorer on iphone/ipads. While trying to run the explorer on the client desktop via http://<server_name>:<port>/explorer/ after I login we get an error

Unable to View Information Spaces
HI
We have a new 4.1 installation of the BI Suite but we cannot view information spaces. This happened in 4.0 also so i thought see whathappenes when we get the new server and its the same.
I get the error of PS_50303-MISSING_DATA_SOURCE which basically means it cant see the universe. The only way i can get it to work is by adding the user to the Universe Designer Users group.
With the same User i also cannot view documents which we were able to view in the previous version on the iPad. Get the error Your security profile does not include permission to edit this document. Error: ERR_WIS_30252) <---- We werent trying to edit it!! just open it on the ipad through BI Mobile
Any ideas?

Unable to access information spaces and Exploration View Sets
I have run into a problem. we had a Business intelligence server setup as a proof of concept for analyzing data. This was done by a 3rd party company and we no longer can use them as a resource.
Originally we were unable to view the information spaces and exploration views, unless the user is part of the administrators group. I have been attempting to have a view only group created that would allow access.
now i am getting the following error when trying to open an explorer view set (The view sets show in a list).
Failed to open the exploration view set
Can't load the information space. (PS 50300)
Failed to retrieve the exploration space 'cb06755b-7fab-4a21-b1ba-a41389bd5f59'.
This happens with all accounts. Administrators group, built in administrator account and the everybody group.
We are using AD Authentication only on this server.
does anyone know what might have happened to remove access to the information spaces?

I tried to delete all BO Connections in SM59 and bulilt them new with program RSDRI_DF_CONFIGURE.
I built DF_JCO_SXXXXXXXXXP_1 and DF_JCO_SXXXXXXXXXP_2 due to the fact that i have two DataFederation Services on BO.
I linked them together with the Data Administration Tool, and i added the FQDN from the BW System.
I also changed the mshost parameter in BW to the FQDN.
--> NO Solution...
Normally when you index an InfoSpace the conneciton in SM59 is built up manually... right now, after createing them on my on, this doesn't work anymore. Then i got the error, that the DF_JCO_SXXXXXXXXXP_1 is not reachable and i have to create it on m own.
Any idea?

I have a problem with Business Explorer 4.0 SP7 when I try to create new information space sing a UNX as datasource, I get this error
The creation of the data source object tree failed.

Our landscape is:
Note: These are new installations
1 server (solaris) business obejcts platform 4.0 sp7 (no patch)
1 server (windows) business explorer/mobile 4.0 sp7 (in DMZ) (no patch)
do you have any idea?
This error happens with all UNX (new and migrated) but no with excel sheets
The log of Explorer Master Server is attached.
This error happends with all the users including the Administrator.

PS 50301 error - No Registered Index Version for Information Space
Hi there,
I'm facing an issue with the "SAP Explorer Information Space". When I try to open the Information Space, it opens fine but when its about to load, an error message appears. "It is not possible to open Information Space. Can't load the Information Space Index. (PS 50301)"
When I click "Show Details", it displays:
"No registered index version for information space"
I'm seeing this error message after updating BO 4.0 SP4 to BO 4.0 SP6.
I did try to index the information space but it fails.
So basically the question is why did this update from BO 4.0 SP4 to BO 4.0 SP6 impact the Explorer Information Space?
Environment details:
BO 4.0 SP6 on Windows 2008 Server using Oracle 10g as back-end.
Front End: using Windows 7, Mozilla Firefox, Internet explorer.

Explorer in PROD refuses to Index - works in DEV
Hi everyone. This is stumping me and could use your thoughts on the matter.
We're using a BEX query in PROD to feed a unv to run a Bus Explorer.
After promotion it generates the error below. I attempted to save and export to PROD with same results.
The DEV and PROD universes are both using the BEX query from PROD so no connection changes is needed.
So the BEX is common, the Connection is common. Restarted the Explorer services as well.
Any thoughts on the matter that I'm missing?
Prompt response is very helpful as you can imagine being a production issue.
